Verkocht/Sold Piëta Rijnland

Een bijzondere Piëta uit het Rijnland, 15de eeuw. De originele polychromie is nog goeddeels aanwezig.

Het beeld is gesneden in de typische Rijnlandse traditie van de 14de eeuw waarbij Christus kleiner is dan Maria. Maria had namelijk een visioen van Christus als kind, toen zij Christus' levenloze lichaam vasthield.

De achterkant van het beeld is geconserveerd. Er was namelijk enige aantasting door insekten.

An important Pieta from the Rhineland, 15th century. The original polychrome is still largely present.

The statue is carved in the typical Rhenish tradition of the 14th century where Christ is smaller than Mary. Mary had a vision of Christ as a child, when she held Christ's lifeless body.

The back of the statue has been preserved. There was some infestation by insects.
